For every girl in high school, prom night is a very important night in their lives. Preparations for this will begin well in advance especially when it comes to dresses. Each girl comes with her own unique body shape. The dress you choose will then have to be based on your body if you are to get the best fit. The two categories of body shapes that often have trouble finding dresses are petite built girls and those who need plus size outfits.



Now if you are on the slim side, the best would be to draw attention to your waist. Empire waist dresses are a good choice as they help create an illusion of curves. If you have a slight tummy protruding then this shape of dress is the best to conceal it. You could go in for short prom dresses with straps and asymmetrical empire cuts. Black and red versions are great options to go for.



If you do not want to give too much of attention to your waist then you could choose to go in for bubble dresses. Short prom dresses in bubble patterns will have a wide and puff-like skirt. This too is great to hide a small tire or two around the waist. This form of short prom dresses takes the attention away from the waist.



Now for those young girls who have been blessed with the best of figures, then there are a plethora of dresses you can choose from. Snug fitting cocktail dresses would look flattering on you and will allow you to show off your figure to the maximum. You could also try short prom dress in halter neck or two-shaded dresses in black and white. Try on a strapless dress that comes with a bead encrusted waistband. Ruffled hems on dresses also make them quite flattering.



Always remember that accessorizing these dresses is most important. All the ruffles and halters will look atrocious on you if they are not highlighted well. If you are not much into accessorizing, then choose a dress that looks good without any such add-ons. Satin based stretch dresses as well as those with sweetheart necklines and empire waists are good bets. A-line short skirts are also great options. The most important part is to select a dress that makes you comfortable. You after all have to spend a very long evening in it.
